September's Winner and An Important Announcement

Hello! Happy October!

There are a couple of things Kelly and I would like to share with you today. The first is our September winner:  Karrie! Please leave your email in the comments below so Kelly and I can both contact you. Check out her layout here.

And now for the not so fun thing to share...Kelly and I have decided to put Just Two Midwest Girls scrap challenges on hiatus until further notice.

We appreciate all the loyal readers and challenge participants through these past 12 months. We will be back! Just give us a little time to bring you all something even better!

Until we talk again,

diary of a scrapbooker//why it's important to document ME

Kelly here dropping in to share with you this month's Diary of a Scrapbooker.  This series will post monthly along with the other posts we introduced last month.  Diary of a Scrapbooker is our chance to speak from the heart about a topic related to our challenge.  We hope you enjoy these posts!

Today, I'm talking a little bit about why it is important TO ME to scrapbook ME.  Even though I don't have kids (yet!), I still have a hard time scrapbooking about myself.  I think the simple reason is that I feel silly doing so.  Yeah, a few layouts are great to have and look back on, but that's all I really need, right?

When I look back on the layouts I have created, I wish that I would have taken the time to document myself in more moments of my life.  After all, how often are we 18? 21? 24?  I would love to remember what I loved at these stages of my life, what I was doing and what I was hoping for the future.  I will admit that the last year or so, I have been a little better about capturing ME in my layouts.  And I am so grateful for these!

When I think about why it is important for me to scrapbook myself, I think about how grateful I am to be able to read messages to my future self: about struggles of life, things I enjoy, and reminders to myself on how happy and simple life can be.  So really, why is it so important for me to document myself?  To remind my future self that I can be happy and life can be simple if I just let it be.  To remind myself that going through tough times is not the end all, be all.  To remind myself that things will get better.  And to remind my future self that I live and love.  LOTS!

Currently Loving: September

Hey all!  Welcome to our third edition of Currently Loving, where we share a few things we are loving at the moment.  Here's what we're loving this month!

Tuesday, September 23rd, is the first day of fall.  Are you ready?  It seems almost right on cue that the Midwest is switching to fall weather: 60 to 70 degree highs during the day and 30 to 40 at night.  Brrr!  I'm not quite ready for that yet!

  • 23 reasons why Hocus Pocus is the best Halloween movie of all time.  Seriously, it is!  I'm the biggest fan of SJP and she is absolutely rad in this movie.
  • I've already shared this on my personal blog, but have you checked out Ali's new blog?  It is amazing.  She is turning me into a storyteller and I truly love it.  I can already feel myself looking at things differently.
  • I've never been to a premier but I went with my BFF to see This Is Where I Leave You last night.  You NEED to go see this movie!  It made me laugh and cry and laugh again.  It was similar to Wish I Was Here (that I shared in last month's Currently Loving post), but on a funny note.  GO. SEE. IT!

  • I feel like all I do is talk about planners! But I am super excited about this day planner kit subscription coming in 2015!
  • I NEVER thought I'd like the leopard print that seems to be so popular, but, turn out, I do. These heels will be mine!
  • And because I know you are all interested in my work life, I recently started a new job! I am the new Project Manager for the MOSAIC project, which you can read more about here. Of course, I'm currently loving my new job, so it's only appropriate to include it in this post!
What are you guys currently loving this month?

A Closer Look: Kelly's Project

Happy Tuesday dearies!  It's my turn to share a closer look at my project.  As you may have seen from the reveal, I created pocket pages for this month's challenge.  I've kinda been on a video craze lately, so I decided a video would be fun to take a look at each pocket.  The video is pretty self-explanatory, so take a look!

Products used: We R Memory Keepers (page protectors, "be happy" quote, and corner rounder) // Project Life (cards) // Citrus Twist (wood pieces, mini stamps) // October Afternoon (shaped enamel dots) // American Crafts (thickers, Dear Lizzy rub-ons: pink flowers and "remember") // Crate Paper (Maggie Holmes stickers and die cuts: blue and gray border, pink doily, white label, "enjoy life" sticker) // Basicgrey (rub-ons: black lines and sunglasses) // Studio Calico (cork stickers) // Fiskars (circle punch) // Heidi Swapp ("pretty" silver sparkle sticker) // other: memorabilia
I am super happy with how these pages turned out and also super happy that I took the time to add some details to these and will be able to look back on them in the future.  I hope I've inspired you to play along with our challenge.  You still have plenty of time!  As always, thanks for stopping by and reading.

xoxo always,
Kelly Jean
